My latest obsession
Occasionally I will develop peculiar obsessions with things that will cause me to spend sleepless nights trolling the Internetgathering as much information as I can on the subject. Why I do this I have no idea. But anyways the latest episode of my datalogical wanderlust is with the infamous 1981 Keddie CabinMurders, a baffling triple homicide and kidnapping.
In brief a mother, her teenage son, and his friend, were tied up, brutally beaten, and then stabbed to death in a small California mountain village while her youngest daughter simply vanished (her skull was recovered 3 years later near a fairly remote hunting camp many miles away). Amazingly, none of the neighbors heard or saw anything particularly strange that evening and three younger boys, asleep in a side room were unharmed. One, a friend of two younger brothers offered a muddled eye-witness account half mixed with a dream. The case remains unsolved.
This site is probably the best resource available for learning about the case and anyone interested in cold cases or true crime might want to give it a visit.
