Jawbreaking Deliciousness

Leon Trotsky once wrote in a communist party newsletter about the visceral dread he experienced riding in a subway while he lived in New York City. Particularly horrifying to Mr. Poofy-hair was having to stare at his fellow passengers as they stood there, reading the paper, smoking cigarettes, or making small talk. Worst of all for Lev was the young kid who relentlessly chomped away at a gob of chewing gum bulging his cheek. This, the act of standing in a subway car chewing gum, was apparently worse than all other possibilities for The-Soon-To-Be-Pickaxed. According to Lev Davidovich, that child, chewing away at his gum and staring blankly into a comic book, was emblematic of all of  Capitalism’s spirit-breaking insidiousness. I happen to think that it is more indicative of all it’s jaw-breaking deliciousness myself.

In any case, this little anecdote says something about Leon Trotsky and his circus-freak like ability to experience existential angst from a subway ride and a stick of Juicy Fruit. What that is, I don’t know. Mostly though I think we can all agree that we shouldn’t listen to men with crazy hair (cough Donald cough Trump cough cough).
