Osama’s dead ….. hey, who got voted off American Idol?
Well Bin Ladin is dead and I, for one, am pleased. Sure it cost gobs and gobs of money and thousands of American lives. But I’m still pleased. And leave us not forget, it did not cost gobs of money and thousands of lives in and of itself, but rather because we decided to go after Bin Ladin “the right way”. Finding and killing someone is easy. Finding and killing someone without genocide and destruction on a massive scale isn’t. I can think of plenty of other cultures that would have dealt with Osama by rounding up and masacring his family and then slaughtering any and all who they even suspected of having been near the man.
And, as we all know, in the final analysis, while we may be happy to see an evil man dead, and pat ourselves on the back for finally killing someone who we should have killed decades ago, nothing really has changed. The world is just a dangerous place as it ever was. Vicious ideologies persist long after their prophets are dead and mouldering.
